Alzheimer's Foundation reflection 27th October

One of the exciting plans Harini , my co-leader and I have planned is the 'memory box'. It is an activity where we encouragethe whole school community to bring something that is precious/memorable for them to the school, dig a hole and save it in a box secure and treasure it so that in the future, we would come back to it and recollect our memories in the past. This also is to raise global awareness of the disease, make it more approchable from a different perspective so that people could not only be taught about the disease and the challenges it poses, but also 'feel' and 'sympathize' as a caring community.

Therefore, during the session on 27th October, we under the supervision/guidance of Ms. Rossana, our supervisor, we discussed as a whole group and came up with more pracitcal steps. We have sent an e-mail to Ms. Niedermann, our secondary school principal for the permission and cooperation we would need to carry out this plan. I felt that not only personally but as a group, that we are getting better in more effective communication with the school community as well as within the group. Also, we have improved a lot in planning activities, as well as going outside the box (into the memory box! haha :P
--;;) and being a risk taker to initiate more creative and unique ways to make the service more meaningful and active, which is our biggest goal of this service.

Next session, we would have a parent of the school who is engaged in the Alzheimer's Foundation to talk to us about the disease and her own experience.
